NaNoWriMo a head banging good time... NOT!!

Well, maybe it is a bit of fun, but not as much as in past years. I seem to be struggling mightily this year and that generally doesn’t  happen until much later in the month. Wah!! Now I’m about 10,000 words behind, and I’m blogging now to avoid having to do any writing. Isn’t that about as pathetic as it comes.

If I don’t look at the page, it will not seem so blank…

It doesn’t help that I’m finding it hard to get connected with my main character. *sigh* Oh well, nothing makes me so productive as the last minute so hopefully I’ll start kicking it into full gear here in the next few days. Oh well… there’s always tomorrow, no wait, there’s a Packer game tomorrow. There’s always Monday…

NaNoWriMo - The Madness Has Begun!!

Well, here it is another year of NaNoWriMo in full swing and I'm questioning my sanity for taking on the challenge of 50K in the month of November - in addition to holiday madness and a trip to Madison Book Festival. Especially after managing a Camp NaNo in June... and 50K+ then.

I'm crazy but I love it!!

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!! What was I thinking???

Just had a great first write in with my buddy Morrigan, and managed to meet my first day goal. We were inspired (or is that threatened) into writing diligence by a Kali finger puppet and a small red Ninja, but we both believe in the "whatever it takes" philosophy. I also owe my success at least in part to meeting at the coffee shop, away from distractions (you know squirrels, tv programs, mountains of yarn, etc.). There were a few distracting ambulance calls but for the most part we were able to focus and get the job done.

Now if I can just keep it up...

Don't worry, Kali will keep us on track...
Bleeaaaaaaaaaaaah!!

NaNoEdMo - I have success!!

I just completed NaNoEdMo - the March editing month! The red pen is mightier than the sword!! Woo hoo! Now if I can just get back to the NEW writing. That would make me a happy person. My poor little story is sitting around just waiting for me to complete it.

You little sew and sew...

Moved my creativity out of the exclusive realm of writing and made a few courier bags for some of the ladies I work with. iPod Touches are big at my agency now, and the bags I've made are the perfect size to carry them. Can't help but love a cottage industry!

Of course, I've still been cranking out my daily word quota. Yesterday and today I've decided to move away from the novel and do some writing on a different story. My mind had been feeling stagnate recently and I'm hoping that a new direction will help with the creativity. So far, so good!

Not that anyone but me is reading this...

I just thought I'd update all my dedicated readership (yeah, you know who you aren't) on my writing escapades. Ha ha!! I'm at 70,000 words on my story and still going strong on it. I've been using the advice of the author of "Writing Down the Bones" and have been writing EVERY day, whether it's productive or just utter crap! So far, so good in the month of January. I think I've missed maybe one or two days - and on those, I've actually done some editing or transcribing of writing from my long hand writing in notebooks.

I've also joined a writing group called Solame writers. It meets every other week on Wednesdays - has only four members - but we have a heck of a lot of fun. They've been helping to keep me motivated on my writing and I've set myself a very realistic goal of 2500 words a week and have made myself accountable to them for meeting or not meeting the goal. So far, I've managed to meet or exceed that goal, and I intend to do my best to keep it up. It's been very liberating.

Blizzard Time

It's snowing buckets outside, and is absolutely perfect weather for writing...
So, why am I NOT writing?? Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!
