Writing Revelation

I've come to a realization, one I guess deep down I've known for some amount time. I CAN write as well as or better than some published authors.

How did I come about this wonderful epiphany, you might ask?

Well, I have been working my way through some OLD F&SF magazines that I've had hanging around - no, don't you dare ask HOW long *cough* can you say early 80s? *cough* - and as I read some of the absolutely DREADFUL stories in this acclaimed magazine of SF and Fantasy writing, I can only think: "Oh my gawd, if I wrote like that, I'd give it up and take up needlepoint or some such less offensive craft." But then, on second thought, it only drove home to me the compelling idea of: "Hey, if they can get paid to publish such utter crap as this, then what the heck is stopping me?"

Yes, yes, I know. Isn't this what any and all of my friends have been telling me for years and years?

I guess sometimes you have to be hit on the head with a rather large brick...preferably gold, and wrapped in a slice of lemon...

  1. Why yes, yes we have ::hands you an Inter-Galactic-Gargleblaster:: and I would love to see more writing from you in just more than simply the few little snippets I'm seeing now. Until I clicked on your blogspot, I'd wholely forgotten I'd had one as well and had left it alone for a year or two. Imagine that. I'm over at riverotter7@blogspot.com....also imagine that...
